During the allied invasion of France, the British and American forces built a man-made harbor on the Normandy coast where the small town of Arromanches lies today. It lies north of Omaha beach where the main portion of the invasion took place. German turrets can still be seen atop the cliffs that loom behind the town and the beach. I took this last June while in France. You can see one of the old oil bunkers, which served as walls for the harbor, in the background.
I really do love it. If I could change anything, it would be moving the crab more into the shot, a slight bit closer to the little boy. But that's just me trying to sound constructive. I'm really terrible at it aren't I?
"I love it" just loses it's meaning when you hear it all the time. But I do.
interesting piece. I like that you included the crap in the bottom left side. I am not sure what it really says, but I like the feeling. The capture of the little kid is great nice use of b&w as well. simply superb.
I thought this was a wonderfull, innocent, beutifull image when I looked at the thumbnail. I blew it up and realised there was something more to it. That crab and the fact the child is looking away gives it something more underlying sinister something to it.
the composition, exposure and contrast are simply sublime. the detail is crystal clear, and you caught the boy's pose just at the right time. stunning !

As of September 2009 =ImaginaryRosse joined the project and will be helping us out with the weekly choices. While things have changed over time, the essence of the newsletter is still the same. As of recent, the talented =Behana has joined us in bringing you this weekly newsletter and we are excited to have her on board. This is a special feature, with a selection of 50 manips from the past year that we loved.
